Umbrella Corp.

The Umbrella Corporation, a once-powerful multinational conglomerate, operated across various industries from the 1980s to the early 2000s. While seemingly engaged in legal enterprises like cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products, it was built to conceal illegal activities. Umbrella, particularly through its pharmaceutical subsidiary, developed biological weapons in violation of international treaties, masking their true intentions by researching vaccines for the same viruses. The conglomerate’s subsidiaries, including medical equipment and anti-B.O.W. weaponry development, were fronts for their clandestine operations.
Umbrella’s ultimate goal was eugenics, aiming to create a new race of virally-enhanced superhumans through the Wesker Project. However, this project faced setbacks, with most candidates lost by 1998. The corporation’s downfall came in 2003 after being found liable for the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, leading to bankruptcy and closure of its subsidiaries due to the associated stigma. The once-dominant Umbrella Corporation crumbled, marking the end of its reign in the business world.
The Rival Company

The rival company, also known as “the organization,” emerged as a formidable competitor to the Umbrella Corporation in the 1990s and 2000s. Through aggressive tactics, including spies, turncoats, and a paramilitary wing called H.C.F., they successfully dismantled Umbrella’s operations, eventually replacing them in the market before Umbrella’s 2003 bankruptcy. Despite their victory, the rival company fractured, merging into Tricell in 2004.
In Raccoon City, the organization placed a spy, Ada Wong, within Umbrella’s ranks, aiming to retrieve sensitive research data. However, their plans faced setbacks, with releasing the Epsilon virus into the water supply causing chaos. Despite these challenges, they shifted focus to NEST and Dr. William Birkin’s research, leading to a complex operation that included infiltrating the underground transport tunnel.
The organization’s involvement extended to Rockfort Island, where they targeted the t-Veronica virus created by Alexia Ashford. Led by Wesker, their paramilitary deployment, H.C.F., attacked Umbrella’s facility, causing the t-Virus to escape. Wesker, seeking revenge and the t-Veronica virus, faced off against Claire and Chris Redfield. The events unfolded in Antarctica, where they aimed to secure the t-Veronica virus from Alexia.
Umbrella’s end came as the organization gained combat data and virus samples, leading to their advantage over Umbrella. Wesker played a pivotal role, infiltrating Umbrella’s final stronghold, securing the Umbrella Archives, and testifying against Umbrella’s CEO, Spencer. The organization succeeded in destroying Umbrella, and Wesker took control of its assets, planning to establish a new Umbrella.
Post-Umbrella, Wesker formed an alliance with TRICELL Inc., partnering with Excella Gionne to secure virus samples. In 2004, recruiting Ada Wong and Jack Krauser, Wesker pursued Plaga samples to showcase the organization’s ongoing ambitions and activities.
Tricell

TRICELL Inc., a prominent multi-industrial conglomerate, was deeply involved in the Plaga outbreak in Kijuju in 2009, leading to its collapse after its role was exposed. The company’s roots could be traced back to Thomas Travis in the 18th century, evolving from a trading company to a conglomerate of three organizations involved in natural resource extraction, pharmaceuticals, and other industries.
In the aftermath of the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, TRICELL faced a tarnished reputation as part of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies (FPC), which aimed to restore trust by founding the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). However, TRICELL maintained an interest in bio-weapons, collaborating on developing the t-Abyss Virus and secretly working with former U.S. Military Major General Wilson to create super soldiers using a modified T-Virus.
After Umbrella’s downfall, Albert Wesker, seeking power, infiltrated TRICELL and formed a partnership. The company provided capital to Wesker in exchange for viral samples. Their collaboration extended to creating the Uroboros virus, an advanced strain of the Progenitor virus. However, Wesker’s betrayal during the BSAA’s investigation led to the downfall of TRICELL. The company’s involvement in bioterrorism, human rights violations, and pharmaceutical dealings led to its condemnation, marking the end of TRICELL’s legacy.
By 2011, the company was considered gone, with references to Tricell causing concerns but being reassured as a thing of the past. Nonetheless, B.S.A.A. member Barry Burton encountered B.O.W.s created by Alex Wesker on a secluded island, using the Uroboros virus conceived by TRICELL and Albert Wesker.
Los LLuminados

Los Iluminados, meaning “The Enlightened Ones,” is a religious group native to Valdelobos with roots in ancient primal religion, potentially connected to a
civilization beneath Salazar Castle. Their beliefs, syncretic in nature, blend Roman Catholicism with human sacrificial ceremonies. The core tenet is the veneration of Plaga as a holy creature given by God, with parasitization being a traditional initiation requirement.
Facing persecution through state-sanctioned inquisitions, Los Iluminados witnessed a revival in the 1990s under Prophet Osmund Saddler. Using technology for proselytism, Saddler, a healer guise, gained access to Valdelobos, converting locals and using Plaga remains for cloning projects. Plagas, once believed dead, were found with regenerating spores. The cult’s followers were implanted with Plagas, living seemingly normal lives while engaging in dark rituals and sacrifices.
2004 American agent Jack Krauser, working for Albert Wesker, infiltrated the village. Los Iluminados devised a plot to infect Ashley Graham, daughter of the U.S. President, aiming to influence the U.S. executive branch. Saddler’s paramilitary, used for infiltration and discord-sowing, faced disruption from Ada Wong. After Saddler’s death, the infected Ganados perished with the island’s destruction.
Remnants of Los Iluminados continued in Spain, hindered by government sanctions and a quarantine due to wild Plaga threats. A sect sought revenge and allied with arms dealer Glenn Arias, aiding in the development of the A-Virus for a bioterror attack on New York City. Their involvement led to bioterror incidents, culminating in a successful attack on Washington, D.C., and collaboration with Arias in New York.
Cultural practices involved human sacrifice, worship in dedicated places, monastic orders within Salazar Castle, and a dedicated paramilitary group called “combatants.” Ada Wong and Leon S. Kennedy disrupted the group’s paramilitary activities.
The Family

The Family is a secretive fraternity with roots dating back to the Enlightenment Period. In the 21st century, it shifted its focus to advancing the development of bio-weapons and engaging in acts of treason. With a global network of lodges and substantial financial influence, The Family aims to maintain global stability, albeit to serve its own interests. Founded by members of the English Simmons family before the American Revolutionary War, the organization’s global headquarters is located in New England, near Tall Oaks, with access through a secret entrance at Tall Oaks Cathedral.
Under the leadership of Derek C. Simmons, The Family embraced bio-weaponry, initiating private research after the Raccoon City Destruction Incident to uphold American supremacy against rival nations. President Adam Benford’s intention to reveal classified information about the incident made him an enemy of The Family. Viewing this as treason, they orchestrated his death in a viral outbreak disguised as a terrorist attack in June 2013.
Simmons, facing internal dissent, was infected with an Enhanced C-Virus strain by Dr. Carla Radames, who had grievances against him. The Family, in an act of betrayal, left Simmons to die and replaced Radames with a new leader. Now defensively positioned, the organization aimed to protect its members, including the new vice president. The DSO, investigating Family members linked to C-Virus research, faced resistance due to advanced warnings. In 2014, The Family collaborated with Patricio, a former member of Los Iluminados, in setting up a trap resulting in a car bombing that killed several DSO agents during an attempt to arrest Maryland Senator Stephen Eyre, with Leon Scott Kennedy being the sole survivor.
Neo Umbrella

Neo Umbrella, a bioterrorist faction, emerged as a breakaway group from The Family, an Enlightenment Period fraternal organization. Founded by Dr. Carla Radames, Neo Umbrella’s primary objective was global destruction, contrary to The Family’s goals. Dr. Radames, a senior researcher in The Family’s C-Virus Project, developed a deep resentment for its leader, Derek C. Simmons. She orchestrated plans to destroy Simmons and everything he stood for.
Dr. Radames, against Simmons’ wishes, diverted funds to construct an underwater complex for the development of her ultimate weapon, Haos, to use it to destroy the world. The Family’s plan involved assassinating President Adam Benford to prevent the revelation of classified information about Umbrella’s bioweapons research. Simultaneously, they sought to bomb Tall Oaks and their facilities, using the C-Virus to create chaos. To ensure secrecy, Simmons planned to extradite Jake Muller, Dr. Albert Wesker’s son, who possessed valuable blood that could aid in vaccine development. Dr. Radames sold C-Virus to rebels in Edonia, infecting Muller, but his lack of mutation indicated
antibodies against the virus. Over six months, Muller and Sherry Birkin were subjected to blood extraction in Lanshiang for the Enhanced C-Virus.
As part of the plan, Dr. Radames gained control of The Family’s East Asian division, using an American submarine to attack Ada Wong. Neo Umbrella recruited a civilian army in China, offering injections of money in the Poisawan slum district. The simultaneous attacks in Tall Oaks and Lanshiang involved Neo Umbrella’s forces, mainly J’avo with insect-like helmets and crimson body armor, wielding various weapons and exhibiting mutations from prolonged C-Virus exposure.
The Family investigated Neo Umbrella in China, leading to a confrontation with Simmons and Dr. Radames. Simmons was infected and abandoned, triggering “Plan D,” attacking Tatchi with a C-Virus payload. An escape train evacuated researchers as the BSAA confronted Neo Umbrella soldiers. Haos was awakened but perished when the facility exploded. Neo Umbrella’s J’avo forces, obedient to Dr. Radames even after her death, played a significant role in the orchestrated attacks and defended the facilities.
The Connections

The Connections is a criminal syndicate led by Brandon Bailey, engaging in bio-chemical research, money laundering, murder, and trafficking of weapons and drugs. Miranda, seeking to resurrect her daughter Eva, collaborated with The Connections, providing Mold and Eva’s DNA. In partnership with H.C.F. in 2000, the organization developed a series of mind-controlling bioweapons, progressing through A to E-Types, with the E-001 (Eveline) being the most advanced by 2014.
Their goal was to sell child subjects with mind control abilities, eliminating the need for traditional bioweapons. The creation of E-Types, particularly Eveline, raised concerns among competitors and weapon manufacturers, as these bioweapons could render conventional weaponry obsolete. A Serum from D-Types provided immunization against mental control, and Stabilizing Compounds maintained Eveline’s sanity.
Fearing hostile organizations like B.S.A.A and a rival bioweapons producer, The Connections, hid Eveline on the LNG carrier Annabelle. The Baker House Incident occurred when Eveline lost control, causing the ship to drift into the Louisiana Bayou. The organization allowed her to live there and established a lab in the Abercrombie Salt Mine by January 2015, with Lucas Baker as an agent. Lucas reported Eveline’s aging and instability due to the lack of maintenance chemicals in August 2016. By September 2016, Lucas received a kit for E-Necrotoxin from The Connections HQ, but Eveline stabilized herself. In June 2017, Lucas became the lead researcher, killing other lab staff, and Blue Umbrella, aware of Eveline, neutralized her and Lucas on July 20, 2017.
The Connections later informed Mother Miranda of Rose Winters’ existence, expanding their involvement in bioweapon activities.
WP Corp.

WP Corporation, an American pharmaceutical company headquartered in Harvardville, faced a downfall in 2005 following the arrest of its chief researcher, Dr. Frederic Downing, on bioterrorism-related charges. The company was acquired by Tricell by the end of that year.
In the mid-1990s, WP Corporation played a vital role in the Harvardville local economy, and by 2005, the city was considered a company town loyal to WP. The company had connections with Senator Ron Davis, who had a residence in the city and held significant shares.
WP collaborated with the Pentagon in the early years of the Graham Administration, contributing to developing a t-Virus vaccine to prevent outbreaks similar to Raccoon City. However, in 2005, TerraSave accused WP of unethical practices related to a clinical trial, damaging the company’s reputation and causing nationwide distrust in the pharmaceutical industry.
In November of the same year, Harvardville became a target of a coordinated bioterrorist campaign, leading to a USARMIID-imposed quarantine, a plane crash, and the destruction of the Air Dome Laboratory. Investigations linked WP to the incidents, revealing Dr. Curtis Miller, a former WP virologist, as the perpetrator. Miller’s opposition to the t-Vaccine project and desire to expose government secrets motivated the attacks. The evidence further connected the attacks to Dr. Frederic Downing, who supplied the t-Virus to Miller and Indian rebels to promote the virus and vaccine’s success. WP’s association with these criminals led to its downfall, rendering the company worthless on the stock market. Tricell acquired WP by the end of 2005, amalgamating its assets.
As we peel back the layers of deception surrounding Evil Enterprises, it becomes evident that the line between corporate ambition and bioterrorist malevolence is thin and easily crossed. The sordid history of this fictional corporation within the Resident Evil universe serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us of the potential consequences when unchecked power collides with unethical scientific endeavors. In a world where the boundaries of morality are blurred, Evil Enterprises stands as a haunting emblem of the dangers that emerge when corporations abandon ethics to pursue dominance and control.
